K. E. Kaufman - Retired After 40 Years of Service in Klein ISD Prior to opening Alternative Classes in January 1994, Mr. Kaufman served KISD for 19 years as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Mr. Kaufman began college at Rice University and played basketball at both Rice and Ball State. He earned an undergraduate degree from Ball State and an advanced degree from Prairie View A&M University. The Board of Trustees approved Mr. Kaufman's appointment as the lead (and sole) school administrator for the disciplinary alternative education program (Alternative Classes) in 1994. Mr. Kaufman's experience as an instructor, coach, administrator, and mentor to students provided the leadership needed to open a DAEP that would provide sound instruction for students as well as opportunities for students to choose a path for academic and life success.
Our staff is looking forward to supporting our students with their educational career as we put education into a different perspective. Our small student to teacher ratio allows us to give our students individualized support that leads to higher grades and a positive attitude as students acquire ownership over their education.
