Student Information Update (Annual Registration Procedures Throughout the District, Including Alternative Classes)

Every year, Klein ISD requires parents and guardians to update student information (age, grade, and registration-AGR) for each child enrolled in the school district. Updating student information regularly is vital to ensure correctness of parent/guardian information, including emergency contacts, phone numbers, and other information specific to the student. This allows the district and campus personnel to respond in a timely and appropriate manner in case of emergency.

This year, the annual “Student Information Update” will be completed by parents and guardians using their Skyward Family Access account. This replaces the AGR card that was sent home in previous school years with a “First Day” packet of information. Annual “Student Information Update” will be available online Thursday, August 2 through Friday, August 17, 2018. To complete the registration process, please log into your Skyward Family Access account between August 2 and August 17 and select the Annual Student Information Update button.

Updates must be completed for all students in Klein ISD (including students assigned to the Alternative Classes) prior to the student receiving a schedule or teacher assignment. Additional documents included in online registration are: FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) Confirmation, Free and Reduced Lunch Application, Handbook Form, Migrant Survey Form, Military & Foster Care Form, And Truancy Letter Acknowledgement.

Family/Student Access is a free service and is available to all parents and guardians of students enrolled in Klein Independent School District. Family/Student Access is a secure internet-based website allowing parents and guardians easy access in tracking their student's progress. It allows viewing of student's attendance, assignments, grades, and schedule. If you are on the go, portable access is a great way to stay connected. Download the Skyward Mobile Access application for your Apple iOS or Android device through your app store.

For assistance with your login name or password, contact your student’s home campus registrar or the Alternative Classes bilingual registrar: Lorena Sarabia, 832-249-4813, or email

An appointment can be scheduled Monday through Friday, August 2, 2018 to August 17, 2018 between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm for assistance and use of a computer at the Alternative Classes at the Annex, 7302 Kleingreen Lane, Klein, 77379.

Alternative Classes Dress Code Attire

The Alternative Classes dress code remains in effect 2018-2019. The dress code is required from the time a student boards the bus for transit to school until the student de-boards the bus at the assigned bus stop. The dress code for both boys and girls is as follows:

 Beige khaki pants worn at the waist (no shorts, Capri pants, skirt, skort, or dress)

 A white, black, or gray shirt with a collar with no logo or writing (The shirt should be long enough to tuck neatly into pants at the waist. A white, black, or gray undershirt may be worn under the collared shirt.)

 A solid color black, brown or white belt with a small belt buckle

 White, black, gray, or brown shoes with matching color shoelaces and white, black, gray, or brown socks (no other color socks)

 A white, gray or black sweatshirt (no hood, no logo, no writing, and no full-length zipper) is appropriate for classroom outer wear.

Shirts must be tucked into pants with the belt showing and pants must be worn at the waist on arrival to school.

Allowable nail polish colors for female students are gray, white, or black. The Alternative Classes dress code is strictly enforced.

Sales Tax Holiday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 10, 11, and 12, 2018

The State Comptroller and the Texas State Legislature has set this year’s Sales Tax Holiday on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 10, 11, and 12, 2018. As in previous years, the sales tax holiday exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced less than $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 spent.

Sales of qualifying items made during the holiday period qualify for the exemption, including items sold online, by telephone or mail. Shoppers can also use layaway plans to take advantage of the sales tax holiday.
